The 10 Ways You Can Easily Make Changes And Improve Your Life

In my last post, I indicated that I am taking a step back to reassess and get some much-needed tasks done and out of my way. Life was too cluttered, messy, and irritating. I was having a hard time finding my focus.

I intend to do a large amount of cleaning. Get rid of unneeded items in my home and, just as important, in my mind. I need to be clearer in my direction, my intentions.

I am going to, for the time being, post just one blog a week. I will also post one quote a day, as usual, so no change there.

Finding my way is sometimes frustrating, and I think it is important to become more focused, more clearly defined. So that is what I will be attempting to do.

Here are some of the things I am going to use.

  • Find a clear path. Right now, I feel like I am a jumbled mess, and that cannot continue. My mind is racing trying to put everything in perspective and decide what is right for me as far as my blog is concerned. I need to find a clear separation from the rest of my life so that it is compatible with my writing. So far, it is a slow process.
  • Take one step at a time. One of my problems has been trying to do too many tasks at once. I knew what I wanted to accomplish, but I was attempting to do it all at once. Now I realize that was not realistic, and here I am. I need to make a new plan and stick to it, so I do not fall back into my habit of trying to do everything at once.
  • Don’t overthink it. I am a great one for overthinking. My mind runs rampant with all the possibilities, which to tell you the truth can be exhausting. Whoa, slow down. It is easy to become so immersed in all these possibilities that you lose focus on that one small thing you need to do now. Keep it simple, and stick with one step, and when you are done with that step, move on to the next.
  • Don’t place too much value on the length of time you may have been working on something. I realized that I needed to make a change, but it does not always work that way. I could have easily kept going in the same pattern and not accomplished what I wanted because that is what most of us do. We lose track of our main objective and feel we need to push through and keep going. Each day we have the opportunity to change our life. Do it. Take one small step today and put it on repeat by doing it again tomorrow.
  • Find a support system. That is one of the problems I have. For the most part, I am doing this on my own. It is not easy, and it can be overwhelming. If you have family or friends who can help you, ask for their help. If that is not possible and you can afford it, hire someone to help with all the little things you do not understand or cannot do. Enlist whatever help you can; it is important, and it will make your life so much easier, and help eliminate stress.
  • Don’t be a “Negative Nancy.” It is so easy to let your mind wander when you are attempting something new, and inevitably it will fill with negative thoughts. Why do we do that? When it does happen, chose not to listen. Instead think of all the reasons it is important to you. You are capable; just keep taking those small steps forward.
  • Challenge yourself. The world is full of wonderful possibilities. Let go of the past and change your mindset. It is so easy not to believe in your capabilities. It does not take any effort to stay the same and not improve, but there is no reward in that. Being stagnant and not growing is no fun. I am slightly older, and it would be so easy to putter around the house and not change, but that would be so boring.
  • Get rid of clutter. That is my intention. There is so much of it because of my small business which I closed, and all the other personal things I own but do not need. I have always resisted letting things go, but not anymore. All the physical property I do not need is leaving. Remember, clutter can also exist in your mind. As humans, it is easy to let ourselves get in a mental rut. Don’t do that! Clean out the cobwebs and try something new.
  • Be sure to take care of yourself. Life can be hectic, and we tend to take care of everyone else before we think of ourselves as an afterthought. Take a breath, slow down, and relax. Eat healthy foods, exercise, spend time with family and friends. Rest.
  • Step back and analyze the changes you are making. That is what I am doing right now. It is important. I realize now that I could not have kept going at the same pace. It was not so much a physical pace as it was mental. I was causing myself stress. It is important not to push yourself too much without knowing where you are going or what you have accomplished. You can have a plan but get lost in it. Make sure you understand what you have accomplished so far and how it makes you feel. Do not forget to ask yourself if you are happy.

So my quest is not to be perfect because I do not believe in perfection. I would much rather be flawed. I do believe in change, and that is what I am continually doing—always adjusting my time frame.
